Employment

  We act for both employers and employees in respect of all issues that may arise in the workplace.

For employers we offer the following services:

  • Drafting individual employment agreements for all types of relationships from fixed term, casual and part time, to full time employment

  • Drafting policies and procedures in respect of workplace issues, including internet and e-mail use through to performance management of employees and the manner in which personal grievances are dealt with

  • Defending personal grievances on behalf of employers at mediation and providing robust and cost effective advocacy in the Employment Relations Authority and the Employment Court

  • Obtaining injunctions to stop an employee acting in contravention of a restraint of trade, or from using confidential information in another workplace

  • Advising on compliance with legislation including the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, the Human Rights Act 1998, the Holidays Act 2003 as well as the Employment Relations Act 2000

For employees, we can provide advice on prospective terms of employment (advice on employment agreements) and can also advise and represent those who have a personal grievance because the have been:

  • Unjustifiably dismissed or "constructively dismissed" (forced to resign)

  • Placed under undue stress and hardship in the workplace, or been sexually harrassed

  • Unjustifiably disadvantaged or discriminated against in their workplace
